Finding a facilitator involves asking questions in your community. Even though a large number of facilitators practice throughout the business world today, there is no "Facilitators" listing in the yellow pages. We recommend that you talk with friends and colleagues or contact businesses in your area for referrals. Almost all communities or congregations have more than one facilitator within their ranks. Be a sleuth. Look within your community.

• The University of Maine Cooperative Extension has been training facilitators for community work. The Extension's 20-hour, experiential training program, called Strengthening Your Facilitation Skills, was developed by Jane Haskell, an Extension educator, and UMCE Community Development specialist Louise Franck Cyr. The program is unique among Cooperative Extensions. • The International Association of Facilitators is the professional organization for facilitators. www.iaf-world.org. Search the internet for state associations; if there is one, they would have more listings for your area.
